Before he disappeared, Ben Verschooris was an animator, illustrator and wannabe developer from Ghent, Belgium. After coding a very, very bad script his computer exploded and he was abducted into the digital world.
No one heard from him since. Some say he lives inside the grid of this very website. It would explain the illustrations that keep appearing.
